Inspired by the Japanese art happenings of the 1950s, Parasco (Last Hour) joined with a Dutch National Ballet choreographer and an Amsterdam-based performance collective, House of Makers, to creative direct the first live-streamed, interactive digital art happening, happyokay (Nov, 2014).
happyokay intersected live performances by dancers from the New York City Ballet, Juilliard musicians, a 3-hour soundscape, spoken word, interactive video, and light design by Dutch National Ballet light designer, Winjand van der Horst.
The one night only art happening took place at the former Third Ward (Brooklyn, NY) elicited 400 visitors, was live-streamed to 20 countries fostering an engaged audience of over 1,000, resulting in over 40K social media impressions earned worldwide.
As well as creative directing the art happening, Parasco directed the 360-degree projection mapped videos screening during the multidisciplinary activation as well as a subsequent short film, happyokay, which aimed to extend the art happening into sharable, digestible content fit for the digital domain.
Following the happening the film happyokay, scored by Caroline Polachek (Chairlift, Ramona Lisa), premiered exclusively with the New York Times T Magazine.
